Revo Software offers a perfect balance of performance, economy, longevity and safety. It wasn't that long ago the VW Group had a 1.8T engine as the sporty powerplant for their mid-size family hatch/saloon offerings, however with a few years of 2.0T engines available in various power outputs the current 1.8TSI engine is often looked upon as the 'non-performance' option. We tend to disagree with that viewpoint, this is a great engine with a lot of untapped potentials. We've been working on calibration for this 1.8TSI in several regions with varying climatic conditions and have had the pleasure of experiencing it in all of the vehicle variants. These latest MQB chassis vehicles are typically lighter than previous versions, making them feel a little more spritely to start with. Add Stage1 Revo software into the mix and you’ve got a great package, loads of flexibility, fantastic power delivery and an engine that's as happy using its torque at low revs as it is being taken to the redline. Don't let the diesel counterpart get the better of you. TURBO INLET HOSE The Revo Turbo Inlet Hose has been designed and engineered to directly replace the stock pipe and elbow found in vehicles with the 1.8 and 2.0 TSI engines with an IHI turbo. The Revo Turbo Inlet Hose offers a high-quality single piece replacement for the OEM parts which allows for smoother uninterrupted airflow, improving the throttle response and performance of your vehicle. With a generously sized airbox, the standard plastic intake hose causes the most amount of restriction; convolutions designed to allow for engine movement disrupt airflow, a small internal diameter limits the volume of air and a sharp reduction in hose diameter at the turbo causes turbulence.   TURBO INLET The Revo machined inlet replaces the restrictive elbow found on the IS20/IS38 turbos. The machined billet aluminium inlet securely fits the OE unit using locking tabs and integrated O-rings. With almost double the cross-sectional area compared to other available products, air can stabilise and distribute before a smooth tapered transition to the turbo. Removing the internal steps between components further ensures uninterrupted airflow and removes any unnecessary turbulence.   SILICONE HOSE DESIGN The Revo Turbo Hose as an increased inner diameter that gradually tapers from airbox to turbo to optimise airflow, while maintaining the tolerances required to fit both LHD and RHD vehicles with a standard airbox. Designed to directly replace the plastic hose and turbo elbow, this upgrade reduces restriction and maximises smooth airflow improving both power and torque throughout the rev range.   A four-ply construction with an internal wire helix increases strength to prevent collapsing under pressure. Overview The Revo Carbon Air Scoop is designed to work in harmony with Revo software to unleash the maximum potential from your engine. Flow testing of the OEM intake emphasised the restrictions in the system, giving the Revo engineers a clear indication of what needed improving. The stock front panel used to direct air to the airbox, the standard air filter and convolutions in the rear pipe from the airbox to turbo were found to be the main ‘choking points’ in the system. The Revo system is a direct replacement kit and includes a beautiful carbon front panel, designed to direct cold air directly to the OEM airbox utilising an internal fin, along with the second feed of cold air into the engine bay to help keep ambient temperatures lower. A coolant relocation hose is also included. The graphs below were produced with products fitted to a vehicle and also in a standalone test off the car. The Revo system was tested on a flow bench to highlight the efficiency of the kit in allowing more air to reach the turbo, quickly and with less restriction. The OEM system reached its maximum potential of 440 cubic feet per minute, compared to the Revo system which was able to flow 480 CFM with a restriction of around 600 mmWg. This difference allows the engine to still make power at the top of the rev installing with the Revo kit.   INCREASED POWER AND TORQUE The Carbon Air Scoop (with silicone back hose and ProPanel) was installed on a variety of stage 2 & 3 vehicles, all tested on a 4-wheel hub dyno. Three consecutive runs were carried out on each vehicle comparing the stock system to the Revo MQB Carbon Air Scoop. A consistent gain of +10WHP was found on the 300ps 2.0TSI and +17WHP on the 220ps 2.0TSI, with both giving an average gain throughout the rev range of +16NM torque. The closed air system helps eliminate heat soak whilst directing cold air through its curved design directly to the oversized outlet. With a 16% larger outlet, the Carbon Lid drastically improves the rate at which air can flow, ensuring maximum performance at even Stage 3 specification.   SILICONE HOSE DESIGN The Revo Turbo Hose as an increased inner diameter to match the large carbon lid outlet that then gradually tapers to the turbo to optimise airflow, while maintaining the tolerances required to fit both LHD and RHD vehicles. Designed to replace the plastic hose and turbo elbow, this upgrade reduces restriction and maximises smooth airflow improving both power and torque throughout the rev range. TURBO INLET The Revo machined inlet replaces the restrictive elbow found on the IS20/IS38 turbos. The billet aluminium piece securely fits the OE unit using locking tabs and integrated O-rings. With almost double the cross-sectional area compared to other available products, air can stabilise and distribute before a smooth tapered transition to the turbo. Removing the internal steps between components ensures smooth and linear airflow transition between elements, providing uninterrupted airflow and removing any unnecessary turbulence.     RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT All Revo products are designed and rigorously tested in-house utilising 3D printed prototypes, latest CAD and CFD programs, 4 wheel hub dyno and Revo developed data acquisition software.
